Community Living Services

Community Living is residential support in a real neighborhood home — not an institution. We staff our homes 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and build each person's routine around what they actually want their day to look like.

What this service includes

  • 24/7 awake and on-call staffing

Direct Support Professionals are present around the clock, with an on-call supervisor and delegating nurse reachable outside business hours.

  • Daily living skills that build independence

Cooking, laundry, budgeting, personal care and household routines are taught alongside the person rather than done for them, at whatever pace works.

  • Medication administration and health oversight

Medications are administered by staff certified through Maryland's Medication Technician Training Program and delegated by our Registered Nurse, with documented accountability on every pass.

  • Person-centered planning

Each person's plan is built from their own goals and reviewed with their team, family and Coordinator of Community Services on the DDA's schedule.

  • Community inclusion, not supervision

Faith communities, gyms, libraries, volunteering, part-time work and family visits are treated as the point of the service, not an extra.

  • A home that feels like one

Private bedrooms, shared meals, chosen decor, house meetings and real say over what happens in the house.

What a week actually looks like

There is no single answer, and that is deliberate. One person in our homes works a part-time job three mornings a week and wants quiet evenings. Another is out most days — day program, church on Wednesday, the rec center on Saturday. The house routine bends around the people in it.

What stays constant is the structure underneath: medications administered on time and documented, meals planned with the people eating them, appointments kept, goals tracked, and staff who know the person well enough to notice when something is off.

Health and safety, handled properly

Our Executive Director is a Registered Nurse and a Maryland delegating nurse, which means clinical oversight is not outsourced to a contractor who visits monthly. Staff are trained and delegated for medication administration under the Maryland Board of Nursing’s requirements, health risks are screened and monitored, and changes in condition get escalated the same day rather than at the next review.

Moving in

Placement is never a matter of filling an open bed. We meet the person, talk with their family and their Coordinator of Community Services, review the current person-centered plan and any nursing needs, and look honestly at whether the people already living in a house and the person considering it are a good fit for each other. If we are not the right provider, we will say so and help you look elsewhere.
